The iso 4017 are a hexagon shaped screws, manufactured from steel.Grade 10.9 metric bolts are produced using iso 4017 bolt material such as, either medium carbon steel, medium carbon steel alloy or low carbon boron steel.In order to qualify as a grade iso 4017 bolt 10.9 metric bolts, the allot has to  be processed by both quenching as well as tempering. Usually, the iso 4017 bolt 10.9 is used in applications for bolting large and forged parts, and the automotive industry as well.  

Metric iso 4017 bolt properties exhibited by the alloy is its high tensile strength and good wear resistance. Grade 10.9 metric bolts are need to meet  the ASTM A324 grade BD and SAE J429, grade 8 standards. The yield strength at 0.2% offset of the iso 4017 bolt material is about 940 Mpa, while its tensile strength is 1040 MPa. The iso 4017 bolt length is 190 mm and its diameter size can be M36. The iso 4017 bolt size ranges from M12 and can go up to M36.

The alloy is available in a wide range of standard, coarse and fine sizes. Mostly, the ISO 4017 Bolts are available in a plain or bare form i.e. – the surface has not been coated with any finish. Customizations are also possible in terms of the finishes  or coatings applied on the bolts. Finishes can be applied based on the buyers needs or the end product application. Although electroplating these products may cause hydrogen embrittlement.
